No questions asked, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We always hear about the significance to eat a healthy and nutritious meals in the morning. But who has time to think about breakfast ideas? It is bad enough that we have to wake up so early to go to work or get the children ready for the school.
And, of course, we always have an excuse that we don’t have time in the morning to stand next to the stove to make breakfast.
I have 10 healthy breakfast ideas that are easy to make in just under 10 minutes while you are brewing your fresh coffee. They are quick, easy, healthy and the most importantly, delicious! And I bet your day will be more productive and you will have more energy throughout the afternoon after you start with a good breakfast.
Here is the list of my top 10 easy ideas for breakfast:
- Oatmeal with Milk and Honey.
This is number ONE breakfast idea for me. You need only three ingredients and you can play with different toppings every day. I use honey instead of sugar to reduce calories, and it gives additional flavor.
Just boil some milk (whole milk, coconut milk, or water), add “quick” oatmeal and cook it for a couple of minutes, constantly stirring. Take if off the heat and add honey. For the toppings you can use any nuts or fruits that you have at home.
- Green Smoothie with Spinach and Kiwi.
This is a glass of pure vitamins for your body. It is great for your digestive system and your skin.
In a blender, put a handful of spinach, 1 banana, 1 kiwi, 1 cup of frozen pineapples and 1 cup of milk (you can use whole milk or almond milk). Blend it together and it’s ready!
- Eggs with Canadian Bacon.
This meal is already our traditional breakfast for Saturday mornings. It is very easy to make and will keep you full till lunch.
Grill Canadian bacon on medium/high heat for a couple of minutes on each side. For scrambled eggs, whisk eggs and milk in a medium bowl, season with salt and pepper. Cook over medium/high heat for a couple of minutes or until ready.
- Overnight Oatmeal.
That is a great breakfast idea that you can prepare the night before and refrigerate it overnight. Mix a cup of rolled oats, a cup of milk (whole, almond or coconut), and a cup of Greek yogurt in a jar, mix it well and refrigerate overnight. In the morning you can add some honey (if you like it sweet) and toppings (fruits, berries or nuts). Enjoy your delicious breakfast!
- Eggs in a Basket.
Take sliced bread, and using a glass, cut a circle in the middle of each slice. Grill it on a pan with a little bit of butter. Crack one egg into a circle of each slice of bread and season it with salt and pepper. Cook for a couple of minutes on each side over medium heat. When it is about to be ready, you can sprinkle a little bit of shredded cheese on top.
- Toast with Smoked Salmon.
This recipe has only 3 steps. 1) Toast sliced bread or bagel. 2) Spread cheese cream on each slice. 3) Top it with smoked salmon. Easy, healthy and very delicious! Especially with a cup of freshly brewed coffee!
- Fruit and Yogurt Parfait.
There is no need to tell you how easy it is to make and how delicious is this fruit and yogurt parfait. Just put a cup of your favorite yogurt in the bowl and top it with some nuts and your favorite fruits or berries. Easy and nutritious. Enjoy!
- Egg Sandwich.
You can boil the eggs a night before and put them in the refrigerator. In the morning, dice the eggs, season with salt, pepper and smoked paprika, and mix in some mayo. Toast whole wheat bread and put egg salad on top. This meal will keep you full for a long time, and also tastes so good with a cup of fresh coffee!
- Granola Bar.
I love granola bars! They are healthy, delicious, crunchy, and very easy to make. You can make them on weekends and just grab one on a busy morning for breakfast to go. There are so many different recipes and you can vary the ingredients. Below is my favorite version of these healthy bars.
In a mixing bowl mix together rolled oats, mixed nuts, and dried cranberries. In a sauce pan combine butter, honey and brown sugar, bring it to boil, then reduce the heat and cook it for a couple of minutes. After it’s done, cool it off and mix it with dry ingredients. Roll it on a baking sheet and press until it’s about 1 inch thick. You can also sprinkle it with chocolate chips on top. Refrigerate and cut in pieces.
- Peanut Butter and Banana Toast.
Easy and delicious! I also make these toasts for lunch quite often. Toast whole wheat bread slices. Spread it with peanut butter and top with banana slices. Keep on drinking that coffee!
