What can be better than the aroma of homemade freshly baked bread? Does it remind you of your childhood?
For me, this beautiful fragrance brings me right back to my childhood, when I would wake up while my mom bakes this delicious bread or Russian pirogies.
If you never made bread before, this No-Knead Bread is a perfect recipe for you to start! All you need is just 4 ingredients: flour, active dry yeast, salt, and water.
I like to make the dough a night before, let it prove overnight (8-12 hours) and bake it the next morning.
How to make No-Knead Bread.
To make the dough take a large mixing bowl, because your dough will triple in size while proving.
Add all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, salt, and room temperature water. Using a spatula, mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Your dough should be a little bit wet and sticky. If is it too dry, add a couple of tablespoons of extra water and mix again.
Cover tightly with plastic wrap and a kitchen towel and let the dough rise overnight (8-12 hours).
The next morning you dough will have doubled/tripled in size and will have a bubbly top.
The dough will be very sticky. To make it easier, place well-floured parchment paper on the counter, flour your hands and transfer the dough from the bowl to the parchment paper. Add more flour on the top of the dough and gently shape it into a round disk/ball shape.
Place the dough with the parchment paper to the dutch oven, cover with plastic wrap and let it sit for another hour. During that time the dough will rise a little bit more.
When ready, preheat the oven to 350°F.
Cover the dutch oven with the lid and bake it covered for 40 minutes. Then remove the cover and bake for another 30-35 minutes to get the perfect color and crust.
When done, the temperature inside the bread should be 210-220°F and the crust is a deep golden/brown color.
Take it out of the oven and let it cool off for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
