Do you always buy canned cranberry sauce for your Thanksgiving turkey?

Did you know that you can make your own super delicious cranberry sauce with just 3 ingredients and in under 10 minutes? All you need are fresh cranberries (I like Ocean Spray brand), an orange (juice and zest), and a little bit of sugar.

If you want a healthy version of this sauce without sugar, you can substitute granulated sugar with honey or maple syrup.

How long does homemade cranberry sauce last?

You can make your orange cranberry sauce ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator for 10-14 days in an air-tight container.

It is always better to refrigerate it right after you make it and cool it off, within 1-2 hours.

How to serve homemade Orange Cranberry Sauce

This classic relish is usually served with turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. Also, it will beautifully complement other meats, like roasted chicken and ham. I know that some people like to serve it with meatballs! I never tried it, but sounds delicious…!

Personally, I like to serve it with desserts too, like my favorite Orange Pound Cake.

How to make homemade Orange Cranberry Sauce

I love that this Orange Cranberry Sauce is super easy to make and it’s so much better than a canned one!

Put all the ingredients (water, orange juice and zest, granulated sugar, and cranberries) in a sauce pan and mix it with a spatula.

Bring it to boil on a medium high heat, then lower the heat to medium/low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. The berries will burst and produce more juice. Stir occasionally.

Then take the sauce pan from the stove and let it cool off.

Don’t worry if the sauce is a bit more liquid, it will thicken up when cooled off.

You can serve is immediately after it cooled off (in about 30 minutes) or put is in an air-tight container and refrigerate until you need to serve it.

I have made this for the last 3 Thanksgivings and I am obsessed! I love the tartness and how it pairs with turkey. Leftovers I eat as a side to meatballs. So good! Made it again this year.
